Where to Grab a Pint – The Best Beer in Aberdeen

Whether you’re on a business trip, or a break away with a group of pals, knowing the best places in a city to grab a cool, chilled beer is knowledge indeed. To be fair, if you’re reading this you’re one step ahead, as Aberdeen is one of the best cities in the UK to appreciate a fine craft beer. We’re home to the Brewdog Boys and the Fierce gentlemen. This has created a social scene where the passion for quality beer, and cool unpretentious bars is second nature.

Brewdog Castlegate

Skene House has been welcoming visitors to Aberdeen for decades, so we’ve got the lowdown on the best places to have a pint. Book one of our one, two or three bedroom suites, and you’ll have ample space for a night in, but we know where to go for a craft beer escape. If you’re travelling for business we’ve got the office space, free wifi and city centre parking you need. If you’re travelling as a group, stay in a three bedroom apartment thereby saving money for the kitty, and maintaining some privacy simultaneously. But now it’s time to take a look at Aberdeen’s finest beer bars.

Brewdog – Brewdog is an Aberdeenshire brand through and through. The first of its global bars opened in Aberdeen’s Gallowgate. Visit the premier property for a taste of Brewdog history, and sip its ever popular 5am Saint. Or head to their shiny, new bar on the Castlegate – we’re talking a spacious ground-level bar with 16 craft beer lines.
Out in the nearby town of Ellon is where the magic happens, and Dog Tours are available of the brewery, which is also the site of the Lone Wolf gin and vodka distillation. At Skene House our 24 hour reception staff are happy to organise cabs as required. Every Skene House suite features a fully furnished kitchen so if you fancy buying bottles of beer on a brewery tour, or from a nearby off licence, it’s no bother keeping them chilled and waiting for you.

A Fierce Beer Flight

Fierce – Another proudly Aberdonian brand is Fierce. Get a kick from a Dirty Sanchez Porter or sup on a Cranachan Killer Can. Locals were crying out for a Fierce bar and one newly opened on Exchequer Row. It’s time to feel fierce in the Deen.

Six°North – If Belgian beer’s your thing, then head north to Aberdeen. The name is inspired by the bar’s location six degrees north of Brussels. This spacious establishment has a range of Belgian pale beers, stouts and a honey beer for your delectation. It’s located within a few metres of Brewdog, on Littlejohn Street, so spot on for a mini pub crawl.

CASC – CASC stands for Cigars, Ale, Scotch and Coffee. It’s got a loyal following and an intimate interior. It’s a fascinating stop, with a huge cigar humidor, and a chemistry professor’s approach to the perfect coffee. In terms of brew, think pale ale and stout, to fruit or saison. Find it on Stirling Street.

Craftsman – Another relative newcomer that has settled in well to the Aberdeen beer scene is the Craftsman bar on Guild Street. As the name suggests it’s all about craftsmanship, so it’s a mecca for lovingly created beers and Scottish gins. It also does a mean line in healthy Scottish breakfasts and hearty porridge dishes, so a grand start to the morning-after.

An ideal spot to sit down and catch up with people, it’s best to make a reservation at this popular establishment. Its cheese platters and charcuterie boards are the business if you get the munchies.
