Travel Tips from Dads

To finish off this month’s family theme and remembering Father’s Day earlier this month, we asked dads at Skene House (members of the team) what they think about when planning family travel, and here’s a few of their top tips…

>” If it’s not mentioned on the website then call the hotel or serviced apartment to check if WIFI is free and available throughout. This way you can ensure no tantrums from kids who can’t access their favourite movies and games.” Teenagers will also want to stay connected to their friends back home via social media and post pictures of their trip to Aberdeen in real-time. Luckily at Skene House, we understand that parents want peace to enjoy a wonderful holiday and time with their kids but that they also want to stay connected. At Skene House, WIFI complimentary is available throughout.

> “For younger kids, you might want to find out if the hotel or serviced apartment provides CD and/or DVD players for hire so that your little ones have something familiar to watch/listen to in their new surroundings.”

>” You might want to plan where you will eat out during your stay. One of our dads here at Skene House recommends using Google maps and TripAdvisor to find family friendly restaurants nearby.” When staying at Skene house, just ask our reception team who will be more than happy to point you in the direction of one our partner restaurants.

Finally we asked Skene House dads why they would choose a serviced apartment over a hotel for their family trips and here’s what they said….

> “The security of having everyone in the same space yet the flexibility to have some quiet time alone in a separate room of your apartment when you feel that need.”

> “Serviced apartments give you the flexibility to put the kids to bed and you can spend relaxing time with your partner.”

> “Lastly having your own kitchen means that you can stock up on your favourite foods and eat them when you like, without having to stick to hotel restaurant opening times, not to mention the added expense of eating out every night.”
