Skene House is a home from home. This means you can bring your entire family along with you, including beloved four-legged friends. So if you received a much longed-for puppy this Christmas, feel free to bring them with you to the dog-friendly Skene House.

Skene House offers one, two or three bedroom suites, with your own living room and furnished dining kitchen. Just like at home, there is room for you … and your dog. You can keep their water bowl and food in the kitchen, perhaps the dog bed in the living room, and you can retire to the master bedroom for the night. Such space and high living standards would be impossible to achieve in a standard hotel room.

Our staff will welcome your pup and there’s so much for a cool canine to do in Aberdeen. This time of year is ideal for those blustery, windswept walks with your canine buddy in tow. Aberdeen has a huge amount of parks and gardens for your pup to explore. From Duthie Park and Hazlehead, to Seaton Park and Victoria/Westburn Park.

All of the parks have acres of grass to explore, and for the owners there’s lots to see and do. Duthie Park offers fascinating Winter Gardens, Hazlehead is known for its sculptures and Rose Garden, Seaton Park is by the river, home to the historic St Machar Cathedral and a great gateway into Old Aberdeen, Victoria Park is a calm woodland ideal for jogging and quiet picnics, and Westburn Park has a vast expanse of grass and a popular children’s playground. And don’t forget Aberdeen Beach, miles of white sand, with a boardwalk where your dog can race alongside you (certain areas of the beach are dog-free, others require pets on leads).

After walking, playing and running, most dogs and owners have built up an appetite. Thankfully Aberdeen boasts some notably doggy-friendly establishments. Long Dog Café in Aberdeen city centre welcomes dogs with well-behaved owners! Their Freakshakes are the talk of the town, so let Rufus indulge in a bowl of water as you tuck into a mega shake creation!

Across the road from Skene House Whitehall, the relaxed Cult of Coffee allows pups to hang loose, as their owners enjoy cakes and fine coffee.

For Vegan or Vegetarian dog owners, get yourself down to Bonobo (metres from both Skene House Whitehall and Rosemount, and 100% vegan) and Food Story café for some animal friendly fayre.

And if you’re just off the train and need some refreshments, nip into The Craftsman. As well as a select lunch menu, it’s known for its gins and craft beers.

In terms of bars, the globally famous Brewdog craft beer opened its first bar in the city’s Gallowgate. You’re welcome to take your puppy along there any time. Another modern craft beer destination is Six°North, cool dogs can chill there with ease.

A traditional, casual bar is the The Queen Vic, a short hop or dog walk from Skene House Whitehall. Or for a bar and restaurant with a difference, grab a cab or drive out to the Cock and Bull in nearby Balmedie. This gastropub serves locally sourced food and fine ale. It welcomes dogs into the cosy lounge with a real fire, and there’s ample room for dog-owners to enjoy a drink or meal from our restaurant menu.
